Why We Selected It

A Door onto the Sea, Pirgos Psilonerou, context detail

The position is the whole argument. Aphrodite Beachfront sits directly on the shoreline at Pirgos Psilonerou, on the coastal strip between Chania and Platanias, with the beach at the edge of the gardens and the White Mountains behind. Very little of this coast is still available with an unbroken sea frontage — most of what is sold as 'sea view' here is a road, a taverna row and a car park away from the water. Apartment 106 is small and finished, its covered veranda faces the Mediterranean, and the development is built in local stone and render with planting of local character rather than the concrete blocks that line much of the north coast.

Life Here

The beach

The shoreline is at the edge of the development — about a minute on foot from the door.

Chania

The Venetian harbour, covered market and old-town lanes are roughly 15 minutes east by road.

Day to day

Shops around three minutes away, a pharmacy and health services within five, schools a similar distance, and a bus stop a short walk from the entrance.

Inland

The White Mountains rise behind the coast; Samaria gorge and the mountain villages of the Sfakia road are a morning's drive.

Getting here

Chania airport (CHQ) is about 40 minutes by road, with direct summer flights across Europe and year-round connections via Athens.

Our Perspective

Why it works

A new, finished, low-maintenance apartment directly on the sea, in a managed development a quarter of an hour from a city that lives all year rather than only in August.

Ownership case

Beachfront land west of Chania is largely built out, so genuinely front-line stock is limited and rarely resold. The apartment is new, so there is no renovation budget, and the on-site management, pool and services make it straightforward to let during the May-to-October season and to leave closed the rest of the year.

What makes it special

The covered veranda. It faces the water directly under a timber pergola, and at 50 m² it is effectively the second room of the apartment for half the year.

Best suited for

A couple or single buyer wanting a small, ready beachfront base near a real Cretan city, with the option of seasonal rental between visits.
