Why We Selected It
Cressogno sits on the Valsolda shore, the Italian side of Lake Lugano — stone villages built into the slope, the water below, Switzerland a few minutes away. This house is detached and open on three sides, which is unusual in a village where houses are normally joined wall to wall, so light and lake come in from more than one direction. The 2025 renovation is the reason it stands out: the original elements were restored rather than replaced, and the technical work behind them is entirely new — triple glazing, an insulated loft, a heat-pump boiler, and a Canovi wood-burning Tyrolean stove sized to heat the whole house.
